[Planned Parenthood] PPAMA: About Us
About Us -
Mission - Facts

At Planned Parenthood Association of the Mercer Area (PPAMA), we have provided high-quality
reproductive
health care, education and support services to women and their families for over
70 years. From our modest beginning as a tiny three-room clinic with a
mimeograph machine in the bathtub, we have evolved into a full-service agency
maintaining four health centers in the Mercer County area. However, our mission
- to provide high-quality comprehensive reproductive health services and
educational programs to women and families regardless of age, ethnicity or
ability to pay - has never changed. We are a non-profit organization and operate
on an annual budget of over $2.8 million.
With that, we are able to serve nearly 15,000 clients a year and provide
education and training to thousands of area residents.
Planned Parenthood Association of the Mercer Area is an affiliate
of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Our wide range of services include routine gynecological care; birth control; pregnancy
testing and options counseling; first trimester
abortion (both surgical and by pill); testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs);
HIV/AIDS education; sexuality education programs; and bilingual staff available
for Latina clients.
